Hi community,

we strongly recommend to use pacman for this update from a TTY terminal, as this update may break your graphical user interface!

Here is a quick tutorial on how to achieve that:

open a TTY with CTRL+ALT+F3
login with your user
issue a normal update with sudo pacman -Syu
if you have an issue with file conflicts, try to fix it by installing manjaro-system with sudo pacman -Sy manjaro-system
then try to update once more with sudo pacman -Syu

Most noticed change made with this update is our new Mesa-Stack. With it we enhanced our Optimus-Support. You might need to adopt to the given changes and check for pacsave files during this update. If you face issues due file conflicts or want to read up on the change made, you may find more information about it here.

Marcus offers now a complete switch from Consolekit to Elogind for our Openrc-editions. More information can be found in the dedicated thread.

For our KDE friends we ship Plasma 5.9.4. With release 0.8.6 of our new CLI net-installer Manjaro-Architect is now available and has been stabilized after some quite thorough testing lately. More details on this project here.

Latest pacman-mirrors update fixes some bugs with the new ranking functionality. More information on the latest development with this to be found here and here

Deepin is currently experiencing some heavy updating - not without issues I'm afraid, but we are doing our best to keep everything as smooth as possible there. We expect things to calm down again in the near future with deepin development and am planning on releasing another Manjaro-Deepin edition then ...

As usual we also updated most of our kernels to the latest point-releases, pushed out some new versions of Pamac, Calamares and our Manjaro-Tools.

If you have however some issues you can't fix on your own, please post them in detail, so we may help you out. Also it is possible to start fresh with Manjaro Manjaro v17.0.1 release, which includes this update.
